NATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION AWARDS 2004
Ministry of Power invites applications from the industrial units, which are making systematic attempts for efficient utilization and conservation of energy, for giving special awards for 2004 based on their performance during 2001-2004. The salient features of the Award Scheme are:

ELIGIBILITY

• The scheme is open to all industrial units in the following sub-sectors of Large/ Medium Scale Industry: aluminium, automobile, cement, ceramics, chemicals, chlor-alkali, edible oil / vanaspati, fertilizers, glass, integrated steel, mini steel, paper & pulp, petrochemicals, refineries, refractory, sugar and textile plants. From the year 2004, the following new sub-sectors are also being included in the Award Scheme:-

 Dairy

 Petroleum Pipeline
ii)
 Distillery and Brewery
viii)
 Steel Re-rolling Mills
iii)
 Drugs & Pharmaceuticals
ix)
 Tea
iv)
 Forging
x)
 Tyre
v)
 Foundries
xi)
 General Category *
vi)
 Mining
 

* for industrial units which do not fall under any of the above specified sub sectors

• Awards will also be given to re-rolling mills, foundries, forging and general category in Small Scale Sector. The unit should be a bonafide small-scale unit and should produce proof for the same from the appropriate government agency.
• The industrial unit should be in production atleast for the period 2001-04.
• Certificate from the concerned Statutory Agency to the effect that the industrial unit is following all the statutory requirements pertaining to the safety, environment and pollution control should be attached along with the questionnaire.
• If any industrial unit does not fall under any of the above specified sub-sectors, the unit is encouraged to send its nomination under the “General Category”

AWARDS
Awards for the best and second best units will be given in each sub-sector in the form of Silver Plaques with appropriate citations as may be decided by the Ministry of Power.
A unit getting the First Position for the third year in a row will be eligible for Special Prize for the year. The units getting Second and Third Position in the year will be given First and Second Prize respectively. Also, the Second Prize may be given to a unit for any number of years.

The industrial unit eligible for Special Prize for 3rd year in a row would be given the highest prize, namely “Excellence Award” instead of Special Prize in recognization of its consistent performance. The rest of the scheme would be same as indicated for the Special Prize.
The performance of units would be judged through questionnaires, which would be evaluated by the Awards Committee. The decision of the Committee will be final.
